Improving the Health of People With Mobility Limitations and Intellectual Disabilities through State-based Public Health Programs

In July 2016, HealtheConnections was funded by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to work with organizations in the Central New York region on making opportunities for healthy eating and active living more accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities. Initial funding for this five-year program is from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The NYSDOH Disability and Health Program collaborates on this work, providing technical assistance to local organizations about how to integrate the perspective and needs of people with disabilities into public health program planning.
