Consent and Privacy PoliciesCONSENT
The decision to participate in HealtheConnections™ is up to you, the patient. A patient must provide written consent for EACH of their health care providers to access and use HealtheConnections™ for providing patient care. Consent is entity-based, meaning that when you sign a HealtheConnections™ Consent form for an organization, you are allowing all their providers and staff members that are involved in your care and authorized users access to your information on HealtheConnections™. By consenting to allow your health care professionals to access your medical information, you are giving them instant access to information that could improve the quality of your care.
Without consent, ONLY in life-threatening emergencies can providers access HealtheConnections™.
If you elect to not participate in HealtheConnections™ by declining consent, that provider, as well as all colleagues and staff members in that organization, will NOT be able to access your information, even in a life-threatening emergency.
PRIVACY AND SECURITY
HealtheConnections™ is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your health information. Sophisticated security technology and detailed audit tracking are used to ensure the privacy of medical records online.
Health care information can only be accessed by and exchanged between patient-authorized and HealtheConnections-governed health care providers. In addition, unlike a paper chart, every access by every user to a patient's medical information via HealtheConnections™ is logged electronically and can be audited.
